COHASSET — Of the three Select Board seats open in the May 9 election, voters handed one to Chair Ellen Maher and the other two to newcomers Gregory Watts and William Ashton, according to unofficial election results released by the town.

Watts will fill the seat of Julie Rollins, who stepped down in February, until the 2028 election, when her term was set to expire. Maher and Ashton were elected to three-year terms.

Ashton is a member of the Conservation Commission, Open Space and Recreation Committee and Public Safety Facilities Committee. He served in the United States Army and now works in real estate, according to an Instagram account for his campaign.

Cohasset residents cast 1,679 ballots in this election, representing about 26% of eligible voters.

School Committee Chair Jennifer Lesky won re-election with 747 votes, while her competitor, Victoria Lattanzi, received 726 votes.

Danielle Ziady won an unopposed race to fill the seat of former School Committee Member Tori Hanna, who stepped down in September 2025. Her term will end in 2027. Ziady posted on Facebook that she has worked as a substitute teacher at Joseph Osgood, Deer Hill and Cohasset Middle schools and has two children in Cohasset schools.

All other races were also unopposed. Town Moderator Robert Hillman and Town Clerk Elisabeth Legge were re-elected to their positions.

Stephen Brown, Carolyn Coffey and Melissa Mendenhall were elected to the Library Board of Trustees, Joseph Kennedy to the Board of Assessors, Marcia Lewis to the Board of Health, Clark Brewer, Daniel Martin and Alison Bryan to the Recreation Commission, James McNeil to the Sewer Commission, Stephen Girardi to the Water Commission and Barbara O’Pray to the Housing Authority.

No one ran for an open spot on the Recreation Commission, so voters wrote in Dana Eagles.

Carol Bestick and Jennifer Chu lost their bids for Rollins’ seat with 223 votes and 604 votes, respectively, to Watts’ 690.

School Committee Member Corey Evans made an unsuccessful bid for Select Board Member, though he was not listed on the ballot, by urging voters to write in his name. He received 637 write-in votes.
