Our mission
Keeping the South Shore Connected and Informed
The South Shore Times is a locally owned, nonpartisan digital news organization serving communities south of Boston, Massachusetts. We are the only daily news publication solely dedicated to the South Shore region — covering local government, politics, business, education, public safety, and community life.
Communities are stronger when citizens have access to open, unbiased information — and when they can connect with the businesses, nonprofits, and neighbors shaping their towns.
Our journalism is free to readers. We believe an informed public is the foundation of a healthy community, and that access to trusted local news should not come at a cost to residents.
We spotlight the businesses, organizations, and people that make the South Shore a great place to live and work. From police logs and municipal meetings to youth sports and community events, the South Shore Times is your most reliable one-stop source for essential local information.
We are a community platform as much as a news organization. We welcome story submissions, letters to the editor, and opinion pieces from South Shore residents. We provide space for community voices and encourage civic dialogue that is open, constructive, and grounded in shared facts.

About the publisher
Nick Puleo
Nick Puleo is an Emmy Award-winning journalist, communications strategist, and the founder and publisher of the South Shore Times. A lifelong South Shore resident, he began his journalism career as an intern at The Patriot Ledger and has since contributed to Barron's, the Boston Business Journal, CityBiz, and O'Dwyer's. He has also served as a school committee member and CFO for the City of Quincy.
Like many, Nick has lamented the erosion of trusted local journalism amid a growing tide of disinformation, performative outrage, and ideologically driven content that undermines civic trust.
Nick founded the South Shore Times on the conviction that locally owned, independent journalism is essential to civic life. His vision: communities are stronger when residents have access to transparent, unbiased coverage of local government; when they can connect with the businesses and nonprofits serving their neighborhoods; and when the stories of people making a local difference are told.
Nick lives in Hanover, Massachusetts with his wife and children.
