Police Investigating Suspicious Death at South Shore Hospital
SCITUATE - Massachusetts State Police and Scituate Police are investigating the suspicious death of a man who was left outside South Shore Hospital in Weymouth over the weekend, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz.
On Saturday around 2:07 p.m., Weymouth Police were notified after hospital staff discovered a deceased man in the back seat of a 2019 black Honda Civic with Maine license plates parked at the emergency room entrance. The man, later identified as 27-year-old Declan Perry of Portland, Maine, was found wrapped in multiple blankets secured with duct tape. He was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m.
Neighbors at a Driftway condominium complex in Scituate told police they had seen a man earlier that day loading a large blanket into the same car parked outside a residence in their neighborhood. Investigators later obtained a search warrant for the residence and seized several items of evidence.
Authorities said Perry and a person of interest in the case were known to one another. The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
