Norwell Girls Lacrosse Team Claims State Championship Title

Norwell High School captured the MIAA Division 4 girls’ lacrosse state championship on June 12 with a thrilling 9–8 win over rival Cohasset at Babson College. Senior Charlise Cox scored the game-winning goal with just 2:42 left in the game, breaking an 8–8 tie. The matchup was close from start to finish, with the teams knotted at 6–6 heading into the final frame. Senior Holly Panttila put Norwell ahead early in the game, and standout goalie Charlotte Pithie delivered a critical save with 1:20 remaining to preserve the lead. The victory caps off a remarkable season for the Clippers and first-year head coach Laura Callahan, solidifying Norwell’s place among the state’s premier girls’ lacrosse programs.
