MARSHFIELD - Town Administrator Michael Maresco and School Superintendent Patrick Sullivan announced the approval of a $60,336,636 budget for Marshfield Public Schools for Fiscal Year 2026. The final figure reflects a 4.57% increase from the FY2025 budget.

The agreement was reached in a meeting held Monday morning in the Town Administrator’s Office. Participants included Superintendent Sullivan, Town Administrator Maresco, Select Board Chair Lynne Fidler, School Committee Chair Sean Costello, Assistant Superintendent for Business Administration Tom Miller, School Committee Member Kendra Stetson, Treasurer/Collector Shaun Strobel, and Town Accountant Meg LaMay.

Originally, the School Committee had requested $60,798,942 for FY2026, while the Advisory Committee and Town Administrator had recommended a budget of $59,705,002 in the town warrant. The finalized agreement incorporates $631,634 in Free Cash allocations to support key areas, including:

* $19,254 for school transportation

* $236,130 for Medicaid services

* $276,250 for student Chromebooks

* $100,000 for classroom technology

These targeted allocations helped close the budget gap. Officials credited Fidler and Costello with helping to bridge differences between departments.

At the close of the meeting, all parties agreed to reconvene during the summer to explore future financial strategies as the town begins early planning for FY2027.
