Hingham residents are invited to attend a series of community forums to learn about proposed building projects at Plymouth River Elementary School, South Elementary School, and Hingham High School.

The projects address roof replacement needs at Plymouth River and South Elementary Schools, as well as roof, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning improvements at Hingham High School. The proposals include important decisions about project scope, costs, state reimbursement, construction timing, energy systems, solar readiness, and long-term building performance.

The forums will give residents an opportunity to hear directly from the School Building Committee and Superintendent about the warrant articles to be voted on, and ask questions before the proposals are considered at Special Town Meeting on October 29, 2026.

Community Forum Schedule

In person at Hingham High School, Room 103

Thursday, October 15 | 7:00–8:30 p.m.
Virtual forum via Zoom

Wednesday, October 21 | 7:00–8:30 p.m.
Virtual forum via Zoom

Residents may attend any of the three sessions. Additional project information and supporting studies are available on the Hingham Public Schools website.

The Hingham Climate Action Commission is helping share information about the forums because the projects include decisions related to energy use, emissions, solar readiness and Hingham’s long-term climate goals. Residents are encouraged to attend, learn about the alternatives, and bring their questions.

Upcoming Community Decisions

Special Town Meeting will be held on Thursday, October 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Hingham High School. Registered Hingham voters will consider the school-building warrant articles at that meeting.

If the applicable funding articles receive the required Town Meeting approval, related questions requiring ballot approval will be presented to voters at the November 3 election.

Residents can review the current draft warrant articles here.

Learn about the projects. Understand the choices. Participate in Hingham’s decision.
