This week at the State House, Senator Patrick O’Connor and staff from the office of Representative Ken Sweezey were proud to welcome student-athletes from the Duxbury High School Girls Soccer team to celebrate their 2025 MIAA Division Two State Championship win. This is the fourth state title in the history of the program, and it’s their first since 2008. Last November, the team won this championship at Doyle Field in Leominster, topping Longmeadow High School 3-1.

During their time up in Boston, the team was recognized for their victory at the beginning of Senate Session, checked out the Senate Balcony, and went on a tour of the building which included stops in the Great Hall of Flags, Nurses Hall, Memorial Hall, and the House and Senate Chambers. Senator O’Connor and Representative Sweezey were more than happy to talk to them about the importance of community and how this victory will make a lasting impact on their lives but on Duxbury High School and the athletics program for years to come. The team received official Senate and House citations from Senator O’Connor and Representative Sweezey to commemorate their achievement.

“I take pride in the way in which these athletes have represented themselves, the Town of Duxbury and the South Shore. Thank you to them, and to Head Coach Rob Jones for joining me at the State House to recognize all that they have worked so hard for. I hope to see you again soon, and good luck with everything next season,” said State Senator Patrick M. O’Connor (R-Weymouth.)

"I’m proud to represent such a successful district. Congratulations to the Duxbury High School Girls Soccer team and best wishes for continued success on and off the field” said State Representative Ken Sweezey (R-Duxbury.)

These types of seasons and championships clearly reflect the hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment that these athletes have to their sport and each other as a team. These athletes have represented their school and themselves in a tremendous way on a statewide level.
