Happening in Cohasset
COHASSET – From a milestone road race to an ice cream social for teens, Cohasset Town Manager Chris Senior shared several updates in this week’s town briefing.
Last weekend marked the 49th running of the Rotary’s 10K Road Race by the Sea. The event drew over 600 runners and featured a walk sponsored by Cohasset Safe Harbor.
“This year had two elements,” Senior said. “The first was the walk that took place this year sponsored by Cohasset Safe Harbor. More than 50 people took part in that and the organization raised about $1,200, so a great event.”
The 10K run started at 1 p.m. under clear skies.
“It was great weather for running,” Senior said. “More than 600 people participated. It was a great day. Lots of community volunteering.”
He offered thanks to public safety and public works staff, as well as Rotary volunteers.
“Many thanks to the Cohasset police for all their support, the Cohasset public works for their support, and all the wonderful volunteers who help Rotary make it a great event,” he said. “Looking forward to next year’s big 50th anniversary.”
Senior reminded residents that the final quarter of Cohasset’s real estate tax bills are due May 1.
“For more information on how to pay, please visit the treasurer collector’s website,” he said. “You can pay in person here at Town Hall. You can pay in the box out front, as long as you do it in a timely manner. And there’s ways to pay online.”
He also announced an upcoming program from Cohasset Safe Harbor titled Let’s Talk: Understanding Adolescence, taking place May 22 at 6 p.m.
“Kevin is a wellness advocate and founder of Addiction Counseling and Education Services,” Senior said of guest speaker Kevin Rosario. “Done a lot of great programs. We’re excited to have him here in Cohasset. A great program. Lots of opportunities to learn new things.”
For younger residents, the Paul Pratt Memorial Library will host a Make Your Own Sundae event for teens and tweens on Wednesday, April 16.
“Teens and tweens between sixth and 12th grade are invited to come down and make your own ice cream sundae,” Senior said. “Two different ice cream flavors, lots of toppings. Registration is required, but the event is free.”
“That’s the update for this week,” he concluded. “Thanks for watching. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend. See you next week.”
