Bicyclist Injured After Crash with Vehicle in Cohasset

An 80-year-old Rockland man was hospitalized Wednesday after being struck by an Amazon delivery vehicle while riding his bicycle on Route 3A, police said.

Cohasset Police responded to the area between Pond Street and Mendel Road around noon for a report of a bicyclist hit by a car. When officers arrived, they found the man on the ground, receiving aid from passing motorists.

Witnesses told police that a 2021 Ford Escape, operated by a 30-year-old man from Hyde Park, struck the bicyclist in the northbound lanes of Route 3A. The vehicle was being used as an Amazon delivery vehicle at the time of the crash.

The bicyclist was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The crash remains under investigation, and no citations have been issued as of Wednesday, police said.
