Norwell High Ski Teams Compete at Ragged Mountain Varsity Races

The Norwell High School ski teams showcased their skill and determination at the Ragged Mountain Varsity Races on January 11. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams turned in commendable performances in a highly competitive field.

Women’s Team Results

The Norwell girls’ team was led by Emma Cakounes, who placed 6th with a time of 37.93, finishing just under three seconds behind the leader. Lily Chase followed in 21st place with a time of 42.62, while Heidi Bailey (32nd) and Madison Fairweather (39th) contributed solid finishes. Amaya Parmar (42nd) and Sophie d’Entremont (44th) rounded out the team’s top performances, showcasing depth and resilience.

The Norwell girls’ strong showing demonstrates their potential for growth as they continue the season, with Cakounes setting the pace as a consistent leader.

Men’s Team Results

The Norwell boys’ team also put forth a solid effort, led by Malcolm Bartley, who finished 27th with a time of 39.65. Shea McCabe (44th), Will Detwiler (46th), and Evan Pare (49th) followed, contributing valuable finishes for the team. Other notable performances included Holden Burns (51st) and Lucas Princi (58th), who both showed determination on the challenging course.

With several skiers finishing in the top half of the standings, the boys’ team highlighted their competitive edge and depth.
