Congrats to all those who qualified and competed at the MIAA State Championships despite shifting schedules, chilly temperatures, and unpredictable weather conditions.
Several athletes delivered outstanding personal-best performances. Jahbriel Johnson sprinted to a PR of 22.93 in the 200m, Tristan Campbell posted PRs in both the Pentathlon (2252 points) and 110m hurdles (16.75), and Maggie Towle ran a personal best 2:20.14 in the 800m. The girls 4x400 relay team of Lily Walden, Caroline MacDonald, Madelyn Everett, and Maggie Towle also set a new personal record with a time of 4:17.62.
Hingham athletes also brought home hardware. Tristan Campbell earned a medal with an 8th-place finish in the Pentathlon, while Maggie Towle placed 4th in the 800m. The girls 4x400 relay narrowly missed the podium, finishing 9th overall while setting their PR. In the field events, Zoe Schulze owned the moment in the Javelin taking 2nd place even after the prior day full of graduation events.
Also representing Hingham at States were Travis O’Neil in the two-mile, Michael Blackwood in the 100m, and Madelyn Everett in the 400m hurdles.
The boys relay teams faced plenty of last-minute adjustments and lineup juggling, but showed tremendous resilience and teamwork throughout the meet. Members and alternates of the 4x100 and 4 x400 relay teams included Jack Griffiths, Michael Blackwood, Jordan Johnson, Joshua Gresiner, Jahbriel Johnson, Tommy Simpson, Lundon Jackson, Kwaku Oppong, Jahbriel Johnson, and Brendan O’Neil.
