Harbormen XC Battle the Dragons

Hingham runners shine with standout performances, but Duxbury edges out both boys and girls teams.

HINGHAM - Both teams were on fire Tuesday as the Hingham Harbormen took on the Duxbury Dragons. Despite standout performances, the Harbormen couldn’t quite douse the flames, with the girls falling 26–29 and the boys 25–34.

Sophomore Casey Gately came out blazing to win her first cross country race, decisively charging ahead of the Dragons on their own turf. She was trailed by senior captain Sophia McDougall and junior Ally Mildrum, who powered through the hills along with Sophomore Leonie Eigemann who had a breakout performance to finish fourth for the Harborwomen.

The boys made their own waves. Senior captain Gavin Anderson stormed to first place, with junior Will Watts and senior captain Tommy Simpson hot on his trail. PRs lit up the course for the Harbormen, but even so, the Dragons held onto the win.

The Harbormen may not have slayed the Dragons this time, but will race again on Tuesday, 9/30 at HOME vs. Silver Lake, 4:00pm.
