Patriot League Gymnastics Season Wraps Up
The gymnastics season came to an exciting close on Friday, February 7, at the Patriot League All-League Meet. The seven-team league—comprised of Hanover, Hingham/Hull, Marshfield, Pembroke/Silver Lake, Plymouth South/North, Scituate, and Whitman-Hanson/Duxbury—gathered for a competitive event that capped off a season full of dedication and resilience.
Coaching the Hanover team was Keriann Hart, who has been involved in gymnastics for 17 years and also serves as a school counselor at North Quincy High School. Hart’s passion for gymnastics and commitment to her athletes shone through in a season marked by perseverance and teamwork.
Hanover’s team was smaller, with just 11 gymnasts, but their bond and determination helped them push through challenges, including illness and injuries. Four freshmen joined the team and made an immediate impact as strong team players, filling in where needed and supporting their teammates.
Two standout all-around gymnasts, Natalie Frank and Emma Lyons, played key roles throughout the season. Frank stepped into the all-around role this year with motivation and determination, while Lyons, a senior, has competed in all four events for the past four years. Lyons achieved a career-high score of 8.80 on the vault, and sophomore Casey Watkins also hit a personal best on vault with a score of 8.60.
Gymnastics is a demanding sport, both physically and mentally, with meets nearly every other day during the season. Despite the challenges, Hart and her team embraced the journey. “I was a gymnast for 16 years and competed at Level 10 in high school, practicing five to six days a week. It was my life growing up, and even in college, I knew I wanted to stay involved in the sport,” Hart reflected. “Coaching is a natural fit for me, and I love seeing the gymnasts achieve their goals.”
The all-league meet concluded with Hingham/Hull taking the top spot with a score of 138.30, followed closely by Marshfield with 137.60. Pembroke/Silver Lake, Whitman-Hanson, Hanover, Plymouth, and Scituate rounded out the final rankings. Hingham/Hull not only secured the highest meet score but also finished their season as the undefeated Patriot League Champions—a historic first for the program.
On the individual level, three gymnasts qualified for the All-Around State Individuals: one from Marshfield and two from Hingham/Hull. Additionally, three Marshfield athletes earned individual event qualifications.
As the season comes to an end, the team’s resilience and determination have set the stage for future success in Patriot League gymnastics.
