What to expect if you're planning to ski for the New Year's holiday

As we head into the New Year, New Hampshire’s ski season is in full swing! While the week kicks off with some mild temperatures and rain, colder weather and snow are on the horizon, promising a great start to 2025 for skiers and snowboarders.

The week begins with mild temperatures (40-45°F) and rain but transitions to snow midweek, with up to 5 inches expected. By the weekend, colder temperatures will bring sunny skies and prime skiing conditions, with highs in the teens.

Whether you’re wrapping up the holiday season or starting fresh on the slopes, here’s a look at conditions across some of the Granite State’s top mountains:

  • Attitash Mountain Resort: 30 of 69 trails open, 7 of 9 lifts running, machine-groomed snow with a 28-inch base.

  • Bretton Woods: 42 of 98 trails open, 6 of 10 lifts running, packed powder with a base of 14-28 inches.

  • Cannon Mountain: 37 of 98 trails open, 8 of 10 lifts running, machine-groomed snow and a 50-74 inch base.

  • Cranmore Mountain Resort: 27 of 60 trails open, all 7 lifts operational, with a base of 17-22 inches.

  • Loon Mountain Resort: 37 of 73 trails open, 11 of 13 lifts running, packed powder and a base of 12-18 inches.

  • Mount Sunapee: 32 of 66 trails open, 8 of 10 lifts operational, machine-groomed snow with a 12-inch base.
