Scituate Schools to Host Kindergarten, High School Info Sessions
Parents and guardians of incoming kindergarten and high school students will have an opportunity to learn about the next steps in their child’s education during two upcoming informational sessions hosted by Scituate Public Schools.
On Wednesday, February 12, the Scituate High School Counseling Department will hold an info session for families of eighth graders transitioning to high school next year. The event, scheduled from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Center for Performing Arts, aims to introduce families to the Scituate High School Program of Studies for the 2025-26 school year and help students navigate the course selection process.
"For parents and caregivers of eighth graders at Gates, please mark your calendars for February 12th. That's a week from this Wednesday," said Carrie Borkowski, School Committee member, in the town’s weekly update. "The Scituate High School Counseling Department will host an important info session for students attending the high school next year. The goal is to share info about the high school course selection process and introduce the SHS Program of Studies for [the] 25-26 school year."
The following evening, on Thursday, February 13, all four Scituate elementary schools will host a Kindergarten Information Night at the Center for Performing Arts from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
"This is [for] parents and guardians of incoming kindergarten students for next year. All four of the elementary school principals will be on hand to review curriculum and a typical day as a kindergartner," Borkowski said.
Kindergarten registration will officially open on Friday, February 14, at 9 a.m. Parents and guardians can begin the process online through the Scituate Public Schools website.
Parents are also encouraged to take the Scituate Public Schools Social Media Communication Survey, which is available at sitch.org or on the SPS mobile app.
"For parents and caregivers, hopefully, all of you can take part," Borkowski added. "It's quick and easy. It is literally two questions, and you can find the survey at sitch.org or on the SPS app."
