Scituate resident Kathryn McNaughton, CPA, was selected as a 2025 Women to Watch Award winner by the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MassCPAs), the professional association of certified public accountants, representing over 11,500 members. The awards recognize professionals who have made outstanding contributions to the accounting profession, their communities, their firms or companies and to the development of women as leaders.

McNaughton, an assurance director at PwC LLP, is one of six women selected to receive a 2025 Women to Watch Award. She is being honored in the Experienced Leader category, reserved for professionals with 9–14 years of experience. Awards are also presented in the Emerging Leader category, for professionals with 2–8 years of experience, and the Trailblazer category, for professionals with 15+ years of experience.

“MassCPAs is honored to celebrate these remarkable women for their achievements in accounting and their contributions to the broader community,” said Zach Donah, CAE, president and CEO of MassCPAs. “Kathryn’s commitment, vision and leadership continue to inspire the profession, and we’re thrilled to recognize her impact.”

McNaughton works in PwC’s Asset and Wealth Management Audit Practice, bringing expertise in technical accounting, staff development and client engagement. She has over 13 years of experience serving investment products, including registered mutual funds, ETFs, business development companies, broker-dealers, private equity and credit funds and private corporate asset managers. From October 2017 to June 2020, McNaughton was seconded to PwC’s Dublin office, where she focused on audits of U.S.-managed alternative credit funds and corporate advisor entities. Throughout her career, she has worked on global, cross-functional teams, building consensus across broader engagements, implementing new technology and process improvements to enhance audit efficiency and effectiveness, resolving complex valuation, accounting and operational issues and managing large teams with strong project management.

She serves as co-chair of MassCPAs’ Regulated Investment Companies Community, organizing quarterly meetings to address evolving accounting topics, and is an active member of PwC’s Northeast Women’s Leadership Council and AWM Women’s Group, supporting mentorship, leadership development and professional growth. She is also deeply involved in recruiting and mentoring students from Northeastern University and Loyola University of Maryland, coordinating community service initiatives and leading firm-wide training events. Her leadership and advocacy within the firm and profession exemplify her commitment to developing talent and advancing the accounting community.

“Katie is a true leader in our Asset and Wealth Management audit practice, consistently demonstrating technical excellence while fostering strong connections with both clients and colleagues,” said Laura Lynch, CPA, partner at PwC LLP. “Beyond her outstanding client work, she dedicates significant time to developing and mentoring staff, supporting students exploring the CPA profession and driving initiatives that highlight and elevate women across our firm. Whether leading major client conferences, internal trainings or Women’s Leadership Council events, Katie combines strategic vision with genuine engagement, making her an exceptional role model and advocate for the next generation of professionals.”

Award recipients will be honored on October 28 at MassCPAs’ Women’s Leadership Summit at the Marriott Newton.
