Lynne Fidler, Candidate for Re-Election, Marshfield Select Board
Why are you running for the Marshfield Select Board
I am running for re-election because I feel my work is just beginning. I am invested in the success of the town and there is more work to do. I have not shied away from making decisions that are in the best interest of the town and its residents and I have no agenda other than to make decisions that improve our lives, support our families and our schools, protect our public safety, care for our seniors and veterans, and make our government support our residents. Every decision I make is made with these core values in mind. I believe I have the good judgment and resolve to make the right decision that will unite us and help us progress as a town.
What are your top two priorities if elected, and how would you pursue them?
Stay fiscally conservative to protect our strong A++ Bond Rating and support a balanced budget that is fair and equitable while improving Marshfield’s communication & connection.
What is the most important issue facing Marshfield right now? How would you address it?
How do we gain confidence in town government, while there is so much misinformation? Fact Line- Need to stay together and use our communication skills with all sorts of media outlets and use social media to the communities benefit to stay updated and offer solutions to how to find information.
How should Marshfield approach decisions related to its finances in light of projected budget shortfalls?
Financial measures should remain fiscally conservative and reduced spending has been implemented.
How would you ensure transparency and public engagement in town government?
During my term as Chair of the Select Board I spent a great deal of time researching and talking with other leaders regarding signing a Public Comment Policy for our Select Board. I have found this to be a positive change for our board and allows people to speak freely about any topic. This sets aside 15 minutes during our meetings if anyone wishes to speak. Keeping a hybrid meeting is critical going forward so anyone can listen in.
What personal or professional experience best prepares you to serve the people of Hanover?
I have always been prepared and ready for our meetings, a listener and the calm one in the room and have the professionalism to make you feel at ease so we can get to the business at hand. My experience running a business has been key in many of the hundreds of decisions I make yearly and all our board deliberations.
