Erin McGough to Lead South Shore Habitat for Humanity
South Shore Habitat for Humanity named Erin McGough as the organization’s new executive director. McGough will lead the organization in advocating for and advancing the creation and preservation of more affordable homeownership opportunities for families across the South Shore.
McGough succeeds Beth Lyons who is retiring after seven years with the organization, four as executive director. Under her leadership, four affordable homes were built and 57 critical home repairs were completed. Lyons will join the organization's board of directors.
“I am proud to have been part of a team that accomplished so much over the past seven years. As I move into retirement, I look forward to watching Erin continue to grow the program and provide even more affordable housing in our communities and help more seniors remain safely in their homes,” said Lyons.
McGough brings more than 21 years working in the nonprofit sector. She held leadership positions with Fuller Craft Museum and Duxbury Rural and Historical Society.
“I am honored to be welcomed to South Shore Habitat for Humanity. Together, we continue the work of this wonderful organization, fostering community and affordable housing on the South Shore. Thank you to the board for this opportunity,” said McGough.
“The Board is very excited to have Erin take on the role of executive director. She brings a great mix of skills and work experience that will help move South Shore Habitat for Humanity into our next phase,” said Board President Robert O’Neill.
Since 1986, South Shore Habitat has built 65 homes and is in the process of expanding construction to build more safe, affordable homes in the community. Additionally, the organization continues to expand critical home repairs for low to moderate income senior and veteran homeowners in Southeastern Massachusetts.
