Richard J. Barry Sr., of Jacksonville, North Carolina, formerly of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Marshfield, Massachusetts, passed away on April 29, 2025.


Richard was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He found joy in gardening, caring for his animals, and cheering on his favorite New England sports teams. A proud and dedicated electrician, Richard was a member of Local 103 IBEW for over 55 years and also served with Local 104 MBTA for 15 years before retiring to Florida to be closer to family. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. Richard was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Hassan) Barry of Marshfield, MA, with whom he shared 28 wonderful years, and the late Patricia (Carroll) Barry of Port St. Lucie, FL, with whom he shared 12 years of marriage.


He is survived by his children: Richard Barry and his wife Maureen (White) Barry, Edward Barry and his wife Jamie (Bell) Barry, Timothy Barry, and Kathleen Barry. He was a cherished grandfather to Chelsea (Barry) Frank and her husband Jacob, Sean Barry, Alfred Alvarez Jr., Megan Barry, Brianna Alvarez, Katelenn Jackson, Joshua Alvarez, Alayna Wooster, Edward Barry Jr., Unique Moore, Aidan Barry, and Mackenzie Barry. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Griffin Frank, Emberlynn Frank, Haven Frank, Braylen Alvarez, and Samson Frank. With two more that will arrive by the end of the year. He was loved by all "adoptive" kids and grandkids.
Richard is also survived by his sister Kathleen (Barry) Collins and brother Francis Barry. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary (Cotter) Barry and Michael Barry; his daughter, Mariann Barry; and his siblings Elizabeth Barry, Maureen Barry, Robert Barry, John (Jack) Barry, Joe Barry, and Michael Barry. Richard held a special place in the hearts of many nieces and nephews throughout his life.


Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours and a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, June 21st, 2025 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Marshfield, MA 02050. Burial will follow at Couch Cemetery, Union St., Marshfield, MA.


In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made to any Marine or Veteran charitable foundation of your choice.
