Nanci M. Porreca (69) died suddenly, at home on Tuesday, January 27th. Nanci is predeceased by her parents Marilyn (Catino) and Gino Porreca and her brother Brian. Nanci is the sister of Michael Porreca of Florida, Ron (Lu) Porreca of Maine/Georgia, Cathi (Mark) Leonard of Plymouth and Andrea (Mike) Hurm of Kingston.

Nanci was the adoring aunt of Krista Porreca, Brianna (Matt) Wall, Brian Porreca, Daniel (Iulla) Amodeo, Michael Porreca, Anthony (Jamie) Porreca, Anne Marie Porreca, Cam (Nichayla) Porreca, Loren Porreca, Mark (Jessica) Leonard, Gina Leonard, Michael Hurm (fiance Brigid) and Elizabeth Hurm.

Nanci’s love for family went far beyond her siblings and their beautiful children. Nanci shared a special, loving bond with her Godmother, Nancy Pallotta, Cousins Stacie (Paul) Knight, Kevin Pallotta, Michael (Mitzi) Pallotta and Suzanne (Jeff) Klein. She also loved dearly her extended family in Florida Debbie & Wade Boggs and children.

Raised in Medford, Nanci attended Arlington Catholic High School where she excelled academically, athletically and socially. She continued her studies at Notre Dame where she earned degrees in History and English.

Nanci was known fondly as “Coca” by, pretty much, anyone that knew her because of her love of Coca Cola. The nickname was given to her by her nephew Mark, at a young age and stayed through the years.

Nanci was an avid sports fan. She played basketball and softball and proudly led the “Porreca Club” in many successful seasons of softball at Columbus Park in Medford. Nanci enjoyed golf and could be found playing 18 at Squirrel Run or Green Harbor Golf courses. Her favorite professional teams included the New York Yankees, the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots. She had a particular devotion for Tom Brady and, most recently, Drake Maye! You could always find her on the sidelines or the stands for any of her nieces’ or nephews' sporting events, dance recitals, cheerleading competitions, school concerts and any and all activities that the kids may have had.

Nanci took pride in her allegiance to the New York Yankees and always enjoyed the friendly banter with her Red Sox friends.

After retiring from Verizon, Nanci began her second career working for the Town of Marshfield doing what she did best - helping others. Nanci was known at Town Hall and throughout Marshfield for greeting everyone with her beautiful smile and eagerness to help.

Nanci attended weekly Mass at St. Ann By the Sea in Marshfield and was unofficially known as “the sister that arrived just a bit late” for Mass each week. She was very proud of her Faith and strived to live life the most virtuously she could, based on the teachings of Jesus.

One of Nanci’s greatest joys was having the family over for a beach day followed by a family dinner and to watch a ballgame. The family promises to continue their special outings on the beach in honor of “Coca”!

Everyone deserves to have someone like Nanci (Coca) to go through life with.

“Well done, good and faithful servant...come and share your Masters joy!” (Matthew 25:23)
