Martin Stephen McDonough, of Scituate and formerly of South Boston, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 19, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Martin was the beloved husband of the late Claire J. (McLaughlin) McDonough and a devoted father to Liam McDonough and Stephen Remedis, both of Scituate. He was also a loving stepfather to Matthew and Andrew Remedis, and a cherished grandfather to Lindsay Raty. He was the son of the late William McDonough and late Marie (Lee) McDonough.

Martin was one of nine siblings, all of whom predeceased him: Mary Theresa Kenney, William John McDonough, Michael Francis McDonough, Catherine Marie Sullivan, Anna Veronica Alexander, John Edward McDonough, Margaret Eileen Perry, and Thomas McDonough. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends throughout Boston and the South Shore.

Martin served with the United States Air Force Reserve. A self-taught systems analyst, he worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He was also an avid bowler in the Satuit Bowl Away League in Scituate.

Above all, Martin treasured his family. Being together was his greatest joy—whether sharing a car ride, enjoying a cookout or simply spending time together in everyday life. His love for his family was immeasurable, and he will be remembered as a devoted family man whose presence brought warmth and happiness to those around him.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 3 to 6 p.m. at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 South Main Street, Cohasset, MA 02025.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 26, 2026, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 2 Summer Street, Cohasset, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Scituate.
