George E. Harrington

George Edward Harrington of Duxbury, MA, died peacefully in his home at The Village at Duxbury on March 12. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Alesandra Harrington. Born in Providence, RI, on January 23, 1943, George was the son of the late George and Florence (McNamara) Harrington. He was educated in Providence and was a graduate of La Salle Academy, later earning a BA from Providence College. While at Providence, he participated in the ROTC program and went on to achieve the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army, serving honorably during the Vietnam War. George spent his professional career in logistics and finance. Dedicated to his community, he worked closely with Habitat for Humanity in Duxbury. He had a deep passion for the sea, sailing throughout the waters of New England as a longtime member of the Plymouth Yacht Club. He is survived by his daughter, Susan M. Harrington of Plymouth, and his son, George E. Harrington, and his wife, Kerri A., of Fair Haven, New Jersey. He was the proud grandfather of John F., Quinn E., and Sophie B. Harrington.
Service Information:
Visitation: Tuesday, March 17, from 4:00–7:00 PM at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court St., North Plymouth (near Cordage Park).
Funeral Mass: Wednesday, March 18, at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont St., Duxbury.
Burial: Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury.
