Edward D. Cochran
Edward D. Cochran, 93 of Marshfield, husband of the late Virginia (Tardo) Cochran, a long-time resident of Framingham, passed away on June 29, 2025. Born in 1932 to the late Edward D. and Nellie (Marden) Cochran, Ed is survived by his children Edward Cochran and his wife Sarah of Marshfield, Virginia Callahan and her husband Greggory of Marshfield, and the late Mariellen Cochran; cherished grandchildren Hannah, Nathaniel, Padraig, Nolan, Brendan, Declan, and Piper; and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Jeannette Cocopardo, Virginia Sjogren and Agnes Whittaker.
From Winterport, Maine, Ed with his mother and sisters, eventually moved to Brookline, MA. He studied briefly at Boston University before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. Years later, Ed found the love of his life, Ginnie, through mutual friends, and together they raised their family in Framingham, MA. After a career managing properties privately and then for the U.S. General Service Administration, Ed and Ginnie enjoyed road trips near and far enjoying the coastal scenery from South Boston to Cape Cod, and all points in between.
A lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, he found joy in America's pastime and spent countless happy hours watching baseball and cheering from his favorite armchair. An even greater joy for him was watching his grandchildren play hockey - never missing a chance when he was able to be in the stands, cheering them on with pride. When he wasn't watching baseball or hockey, you could find him in the McDonald's drive-through line, grabbing an iced coffee and heading to the beach to spend a few hours reading his book of choice.
He also had a deep love for the simple pleasures of life - especially tending to his tomato plants every summer. Whether carefully watering them each morning or proudly sharing the ripest ones with friends and family brought him happiness. He will be remembered for his steady presence, warm heart, and unwavering love for his friends and family.
