Barbara J. Hassett

Barbara J. (Allen) Hassett of Marshfield passed away on February 15, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Wife of the late James E. Hassett and longtime companion of Robert Kress, she was the loving mother of Michael E. Bonanno and Michelle E. Campitelli and her husband Billy, and step-children John Hasset and his wife Ann, Katherine Friel and her husband Bill, James Hassett and his wife Sheryl, Elizabeth Hopkins and her husband Kevin, and Robert Hassett; cherished grandmother of Melissa A. Bonanno and Michael E. Bonanno, Jr., and great grandchild Kayla Bonanno. Daughter of the late Horace E. and Doris E. (Thayer) Allen, she is predeceased by her siblings Roberta Lynch, Dorothy Peterson, Horace Allen III, Robert Allen, Fred Allen, Margaret Snyder, and Lorna May Allen, and many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was born in Weymouth and raised in Hanover. She graduated from Hanover High School and had a long career as a clerk for the Hingham Courthouse. She also worked as a home health aide and for Kent’s Carpetland. Barbara was an avid runner and enjoyed skiing, traveling, spending time with her family, and helping others.

Barbara will be laid to rest in the Couch Cemetery with a graveside service on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Friends of the Marshfield Animal Shelter, by mail to P.O.
