SCITUATE — Raising Harts will host its 4th annual Tricks + Treats celebration this month, offering a sensory-friendly Halloween experience designed to include and support neurodivergent children and their families.

A special Quiet Hour from 4 to 5 p.m. will provide a calm, welcoming environment by turning off music, fog machines, and bright lighting. Organizers say the change helps ensure all children can enjoy the festivities comfortably.

Staff and volunteers, many of whom are parents, caregivers, or professionals with experience in autism and neurodiversity, bring empathy and lived understanding to the event’s planning and execution.

“The Tricks + Treats event is something we look forward to every year,” said Amy of Bridgewater. “From the movies to the bouncy houses and of course the trick-or-treating, there’s truly something for all.”  This playful, family friendly celebration features costumes, interactive stations, and hands-on activities designed to spotlight local resources that support creativity, inclusion, and seasonal fun.

Jessica of Hanson shared, “We are grateful for events such as Tricks + Treats. It allows a space for my child to socialize with friends, participate in activities and gather treats in a safe, inclusive space.”

Raising Harts, a nonprofit serving the South Shore’s neurodivergent community, organizes inclusive events, peer support programs, and advocacy efforts to help families feel connected and understood.

“Our mission is to create joyful, judgment-free spaces where kids and caregivers feel seen and supported,” said Sophia Bakas, Raising Harts' Program Coordinator.

Tricks + Treats will be held on October 18 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at City Arena, 708 Washington Street, Pembroke MA 02359. More information here.
