Norwell Athletic Club Raises $8.5K for Veterans
The Norwell Athletic Club (NAC) turned its Veterans Day Challenge into a powerful show of community strength and gratitude, raising more than $8,500 for America’s Warrior Partnership, a nonprofit dedicated to ending veteran suicide by connecting veterans with local support networks.
Held on Sunday, November 9, the “Train Like a Troop” event brought together NAC members, friends, family, and veterans for a high-intensity workout designed to honor service members and give participants a glimpse into the physical demands of military training.
Led by veterans John Driscoll and Damron Yancey, the event featured 10 minutes of formation basics, 30 minutes of intense cardio and calisthenics, and a 15–20 minute cadence run around the building—complete with participants singing cadence.
Driscoll, an NAC employee and veteran, was recognized for his vision and detailed planning that made the event possible. His leadership and commitment to the cause played a key role in its success.
“We are overwhelmed by the incredible support from our community,” said Kim Trapilo, owner of Norwell Athletic Club. “Our original goal was to raise $1,000, and to exceed that by more than eight times shows the strength and generosity of our members and community. This event was about more than fitness – it was about coming together to support our veterans and bring awareness to the critical issue of veteran suicide.”
Participants of all fitness levels joined the challenge, each receiving an exclusive event T-shirt donated by the gym and sharing in a morning of camaraderie, purpose, and perseverance.
All proceeds will directly benefit America’s Warrior Partnership, supporting its mission to empower veterans and prevent suicide through local engagement and resources.
