Costumes, Candy, and Crisp Air: Fall’s Final Hurrah
By Heidi Prisco
The air has that unmistakable crispness now; the kind that makes you crave hot cider and one more afternoon outside before winter really sets in. Costumes are draped over the backs of chairs, pumpkins are lined up on porches, and kids across the South Shore are buzzing about trick-or-treating plans.
Before the outdoor season slips away, there’s one more place to play, laugh, and make a few final memories in the sunshine: Starland Sportsplex & Fun Park in Hanover.
Suit Up for a Spooktacular Sunday for Families
On Sunday, October 26th, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Starland will transform into a Halloween playground for its annual Halloween Spooktacular, a family-friendly mix of thrills, costumes, and good old-fashioned fall fun.
Kids can bounce and race their way through unlimited attractions and inflatables, collect candy during trick-or-treating, and join a Halloween dance party that’s sure to burn off a little sugar rush. There will also be arts and crafts, yard games, and plenty of space for families to spread out, play, and just enjoy being outdoors one more time.
If you need a breather between activities, the park’s eateries have you covered. The Rec Room, Fuel 53 - our coffee shop, and Starland’s concessions will be serving up everything from kid-friendly bites to easy lunch options.
The Last Hurrah Before Winter
The Halloween event also marks one of the last weekends to enjoy Starland’s outdoor park before it closes for the season (mid-November, depending on the weather). That means it’s one of your last chances for go-karts, drop tower, and those breezy autumn moments that make fall on the South Shore so special.
Outdoor park hours run Friday 4–8 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.–8 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.–6 p.m. (weather permitting). There’s a bittersweet charm to it. Families waving from the spin coaster, kids giggling through mini golf holes one last time before the frost sets in.
A South Shore Tradition in the Making
Events like this have a way of becoming local traditions. You might see a classmate from school, a familiar face from the soccer sidelines, or that family who always shows up in matching costumes. Parents sip coffee while little ones wobble through the trick-or-treat trail, superheroes and princesses darting between pumpkins and inflatables.
It’s the kind of scene that captures the best of small-town fall; the joy, the laughter, the “let’s do one more ride before we go” moments that make these weekends worth remembering.
Only a Few Weekends Left to Celebrate
As the season winds down and the rides start to slow, there’s a certain sweetness in knowing you’ve made the most of it — filling your fall with laughter, fresh air, and a little Halloween magic.
So dress up, bring your crew, and make the most of your weekend with a fang-tastic day at Starland!
