In honor of the many milestones being celebrated in 2026, the Norwell Historical Society has published two new books which will be released at a Book Launch Party on Friday, September 18 at Cushing Memorial Hall in Norwell Center.
This year commemorates the 350th anniversary of the fighting during King Philip’s War in Old Scituate (today’s Norwell), the 300th birthday of the Jacobs Farmhouse (built in 1726), and the 250th of the United States (with the Declaration of Independence being signed in 1776). In celebration of these events, the Society published two books:
Postcards of Norwell written by Jonathan H. Bond
North River Packet: Historic Tales of Norwell written by multiple authors and edited by Wendy Bawabe, Betsy Brink, and Dan Neumann
Both books will be available for sale at the Book Launch Party—a free event for the entire community that has been underwritten by generous donors.
An Open House, the Book Launch Party will run from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm and will feature free food and drink. Books will be for sale, and the authors will be available for signings.
Each book costs $25, and 100% of book sales proceeds benefit the Norwell Historical Society as the publishing costs of both books was underwritten by donors.
The entire Norwell community is invited to stop by this open house event at the Cushing Center and celebrate our town’s history.
