Andrew Wayne, a track coach at Hingham High School, is facing criminal charges after allegedly inappropriately touching a female student-athlete during practice last week, according to reporting by Boston.com. The incident was reportedly captured on school security cameras.

According to a police report, during a drill where athletes were running against a wall, Wayne allegedly "slapped and squeezed [the student's] buttocks and then pushed her into a wall." Later, in the cafeteria, he is accused of touching her shoulder, making her feel "extremely uncomfortable."

Wayne, who claims to have been a coach for twenty years without prior accusations, denied any wrongdoing when questioned by police. He has been charged with two counts of assault and battery, including indecent assault and battery.

Parents and community members in Hingham have expressed shock and concern over the allegations.

The school administration has suspended Wayne pending the outcome of the investigation and is cooperating fully with law enforcement. They have emphasized their commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all students.
