Hingham’s Patrick Kenney Named to U.S. Ski Team
Hingham native Patrick Kenney has been named to the U.S. Ski Team for the 2025 World Championships in Saalbach, Austria. The announcement solidifies Kenney’s standing as one of the country’s top alpine skiers, marking a major step in his competitive career.
Kenney, a former standout at Burke Mountain Academy, first made waves in the sport as the U-18 giant slalom champion, distinguishing himself as the only male skier from the academy in his age group to compete for the national team. He went on to ski for the U.S. team from 2015 to 2017, representing the country at the 2016 International Ski Federation (FIS) Junior World Championships in Sochi, Russia.
Continuing his academic and athletic career at the University of New Hampshire, Kenney became one of the program’s most decorated skiers. He earned NCAA All-American honors twice in the giant slalom and was named Team MVP in 2020. That same year, he finished fourth in the NCAA Championships at Bridger Bowl, Montana, securing First-Team All-American status.
Kenney’s recent results on the slopes have only reinforced his talent. At the Stifel Birds of Prey Giant Slalom, he made an impressive push from a starting bib of 42 to finish 21st against a competitive international field.
Now, as he prepares to compete on one of the sport’s biggest stages, Kenney’s selection for the 2025 World Championships stands as a testament to his relentless work ethic and skill. Representing both Hingham and Team USA, he is poised to make an impact in Austria next year.
