
Sixth Annual Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration Returns to Hingham Harbor on June 19, 2026
The Hingham Unity Council (HUC), together with South Shore community partners, invites the public to the sixth annual celebration of Juneteenth Freedom Day on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the Bandstand at Hingham Harbor.
This FREE, family-friendly community celebration will feature live music, student performances, interactive activities for children, artisan vendors, food trucks, and a craft beer garden. Most participating vendors are BIPOC-owned businesses from across the South Shore and Greater Boston area. Highlights of the celebration include: Live music by premiere Boston-based band, The Woo Factor Band and Beats, Rhymes & Life, a Hip-Hop Therapeutic Activity Group Tunes spun by DJ Jeff 2X Face painting, balloon art, relay races, and family activities Black National Anthem sing-along.
A presentation of the Juneteenth Student Art Contest Winners Food and beverages from a curated list of vendors from the South Shore and Boston including Vitamin Sea Brewing Community partners helping to organize this year’s event include Duxbury For All, Abington ASPIRE, and First Parish Church of Norwell.
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Texas were finally informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Also known as Freedom Day, Juneteenth has been celebrated for generations and became a federal holiday in 2021.
