Broeden Strong, Swab Event

On this Saturday, 9/19 in the nearby town of Holbrook, an important event will take place. On that day, you are being asked to spend 10 minutes of your time to potentially save a life. DKMS  and BROEDEN STRONG  are holding an event where with a simple mouth swab you have the power to do this. DKMS is the world's largest non-profit bone marrow and blood stem cell donor center, dedicated to fighting blood cancer and blood disorders. Founded: 1991 in Germany by Dr. Peter Harf after he lost his wife to leukemia. Global Impact: Registered over 13 million donors and facilitated more than 135,000 stem cell donations worldwide. International Presence:DKMS operates core donor centers and offices across seven countries on five continents. Donor Recruitment: Encourages individuals to join the registry through a simple, free, swab kit. Patient Support: Helps conect patients with matching unrelated stem cell donors. Science and Research: Funds and conducts clinical trials and research to improve blood cancer therapies through specialized entities like the Clinical Trials Unit and the DKMS Life Science Lab. BROEDEN STRONG-Fight Against AML is a family group,  committed to finding cures and  enrolling qualified donors into the bone marrow registry. This group is named for Broeden Sabin, (my great-grandson) a now 18 year old young man who on December 22nd of 2025, at the age of 17, was suddenly and unexpectedly diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He required a bone marrow transplant to save his life. There was no match in the system.  The alternative was stem cells. Because of the fast moving nature of the disease,  there was no time.  Finally, a double cord blood transfusion was given and his body accepted it and he is still  with us. Unfortunately,  during this month of Childhood Cancer Awareness, many we've come to know are not and Broeden's journey is far from over. Our mission on this day is to enroll as many people between the ages of 18-55 into the bone marrow registry to spare others from this terrible disease. Brookville Bible Church at 871 S. Franklin Street in Holbrook has generously provided the space for this to take place and we are forever grateful.  You can read much more about this battle on: BROEDEN STRONG-fight against aml on Facebook.Join us.Save a child's life.Cancer doesn't discriminate by age. Thank you. Ted Morss.
