Community Focus

Atlantic Resiliency Innovation Institute
The Atlantic Resiliency Innovation Institute (ARII) is the parent organization and home for The Marshfield Coastal Hazard Lab (MCHL) & Marshfield Coastal Academy (MCA). Through our workforce development programs and our federally funded research lab, we are building a science-based community to bring to market the next generation of coastal hazard mitigation solutions. ARII was established through a collaboration of the Marshfield Chamber of Commerce, Northeastern University, the Town of Marshfield, and the Marshfield Public School District.

The Atlantic Resilience Innovation Institute (ARII)—combining the Marshfield Coastal Hazard Lab (MCHL) and Marshfield Coastal Academy (MCA)—offers a bold new platform to accelerate maritime research and workforce development. ARII’s initiatives directly support the Seaport Economic Council’s emphasis on leveraging scientific and technological assets for economic and community advancement. The Marshfield Coastal Academy is a dynamic training program preparing students for entry-level coastal field technician careers. Through a robust curriculum and paid internships, MCA equips students with technical, analytical, and professional skills vital for employment with engineering firms, coastal contractors, and public agencies.
