Norwell: Home Tour on Friday, April 11

Explore Norwell’s Finest Homes While Supporting the Arts

On Friday, April 11, the James Library & Center for the Arts invites the community to one of Norwell’s most beloved spring traditions—the Homes of Norwell Tour. More than just a house tour, this event showcases the charm, history, and creative spirit of Norwell while raising critical funds for the James.

“This House Tour is the biggest fundraiser for the James this year, and we’re aiming to raise at least $15,000,” said Lauren Sears, Development Manager at the James Library. “Every ticket sold helps sustain the James’ programs, exhibitions, and community events.”

The day begins at 9 a.m. at Cushing Memorial Hall, where guests can pick up their tour booklets, grab a coffee, and shop at the vibrant Marketplace. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., several of Norwell’s most stunning and unique homes will open their doors to ticket holders. Attendees will receive a list of the featured homes—including addresses and historical notes—at check-in.

What sets this tour apart is its blend of local heritage and artistic flair. “The Norwell House Tour stands out from other house tours,” said longtime patron Sarah Baker. “The tour booklet has interesting historical research and I appreciate that they include local musicians and display local artists! The homes this year have great kitchens and unique garden spaces that I can’t wait to explore.”

Executive Director Megan Ward emphasized the broader impact of the event: “The Homes of Norwell Tour plays a vital role in raising funds for the James Library & Center for the Arts, supporting essential programs and preserving a space where art, education, and community can thrive. These funds help ensure that these cultural resources remain accessible for generations to come.”

For many, it’s a cherished tradition and an opportunity to enjoy Norwell’s community spirit. “The House Tour is one of my favorite events in Norwell!” said patron Kristen Jervey. “I look forward to spending the afternoon with my mother or friends, shopping at the Marketplace and then touring several of Norwell's most beautiful and unique properties.”

Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 on the day of the tour, available at the Cushing Center. Thanks to a grant from the Cordelia Family Foundation, a limited number of complimentary tickets are available for seniors.

Whether you're an architecture enthusiast, a supporter of the arts, or just looking for a lovely spring outing, the Homes of Norwell Tour is not to be missed. Come celebrate community, creativity, and the timeless charm of Norwell—all while supporting a great cause.
