Seasonal Beer Garden Approved for North Scituate
SCITUATE – A new seasonal beer garden is coming to North Scituate after the Select Board approved an all-alcohol license for Split Rock Social at 360 Gannett Road, the former site of Jamie’s Pub. The open-air venue, expected to open mid-summer, will offer craft beverages, food, and live entertainment.
The proposal from owners Aaron Herman and Ryan Hill was met with enthusiasm from town officials and local business owners. Select Board members praised the project as a creative solution for the long-vacant lot, emphasizing its potential to attract visitors and stimulate economic activity in the area.
“I think this is a really nice solution to what we all know has been a problematic piece of property,” said one board member. “This will bring life to the village that it needs more of.”
The beer garden will feature a high-end repurposed shipping container with a kitchen, cooler, and multiple bathrooms, along with an outdoor seating area enclosed by a fence. The owners assured the board that all alcohol will be securely stored on-site, and that noise levels will be carefully managed to avoid disruptions to nearby residents.
Operating hours will range from 12 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., depending on the day of the week, with outdoor live or recorded music allowed under specific guidelines. The business must still complete the planning board’s site plan review before opening.
Local businesses and residents expressed support for the project, with some noting its potential to revitalize North Scituate. In a letter submitted to the board, resident Evan Deutsche wrote, “We believe this development would provide much-needed energy in North Scituate. It would add a lot of value to the local community.”
Herman and Hill, who also operate a similar concept in Cohasset, said they are eager to bring their successful beer garden model to Scituate. “We’re looking forward to making this a great gathering place for the community,” Hill said.
Pending all necessary approvals, Split Rock Social is expected to open in July or August.
