New Brunch Spot First Watch Secures Liquor License in Hanover

First Watch, a national breakfast and brunch chain, is officially bringing its menu of daytime dining and craft cocktails to Hanover Crossing after securing a liquor and entertainment license from the Select Board. The approval marks the company’s first location in Massachusetts.

The Select Board voted unanimously in favor of the license during its Feb. 18 meeting. The restaurant, which will be located at 1775 Washington Street, Suite 762, will serve alcohol from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sundays.

“This is our only location in Massachusetts,” said Elizabeth Deonte, attorney for First Watch. “No violations and no other branches in Massachusetts.”

The board also approved an entertainment license allowing the restaurant to play recorded ambient music through an amplification system.

“This license is requested for recorded ambient music and the use of an amplification system. Basically just speakers for the music,” said Janet Tierney, Hanover’s Director of Public Affairs.

Board members had no objections to the applications, and there was no public opposition during the hearing.

“I’ve been to First Watch and I’m looking forward to being there with music and maybe a drink,” said Vanessa O’Connor, Chair of the Hanover Select Board.

The Florida-based chain, known for its fresh, made-to-order breakfast and brunch items, has expanded rapidly across the country. Its menu features classic morning staples, seasonal specials, and a selection of brunch cocktails, including mimosas and Bloody Marys.

With its latest expansion into the South Shore, First Watch will join the growing number of businesses at Hanover Crossing, a redevelopment project aimed at revitalizing the former Hanover Mall into a mixed-use retail and residential space.
