Two South Shore music enthusiasts are turning their passion for vinyl into a permanent downtown destination. Common Groove Records, founded by Eric Visser of Norwell and Josh Whitlow of East Bridgewater, will celebrate the grand opening of its first storefront at 50 Central Square in Bridgewater on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Founded in 2025, Common Groove Records has spent the past year hosting pop-up events throughout Greater Boston, including at Dorchester Brewing and Stellwagen Beer Company. The new shop will offer new and used vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, audio equipment, collectibles and music-related gifts.
"We've always envisioned Common Groove as being about more than just buying and selling records," Visser said. "The new space gives us the opportunity to offer a mix of vinyl, CDs, music-related gifts, and most excitingly, community events, while creating a place where people can hang out, discover music, and experience something a little different each time they visit."
The grand opening celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will feature complimentary refreshments, giveaways and raffles. DJ Chillkut will spin records from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., while Black Hat Brew Works will serve craft beer. Neighboring Restoration Coffee will also introduce a limited-edition Salted Maple Cold Brew called "The Common."
The store plans to host album release parties, music trivia nights and live performances at the adjacent Music Alley venue.
Regular store hours will be Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
