A Brockton man was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly making violent threats, attempting to steal a vehicle, and assaulting a police officer. Elishah Moore-Evans, 28, was taken into custody following a disturbance at 22 Pond Street, where police say he threatened to kill employees and attempted to carjack an Uber vehicle and a police cruiser.

According to Norwell Police, officers were dispatched at 9:44 a.m. after receiving reports of a man making threats to kill people if he did not get a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found Moore-Evans sitting in the driver's seat of an Uber vehicle, which he had taken after an altercation inside a nearby business. Witnesses reported that Moore-Evans had become agitated during his Uber ride from Brockton, making remarks about "Dominicans taking all of the jobs." Once at his destination, he followed the driver into the business, where he allegedly threatened employees, slammed his hands on a vehicle, and tried to steal the Uber driver’s keys.

When officers approached Moore-Evans, he exited the vehicle and moved aggressively toward them, refusing to cooperate. Police say he then attempted to enter a Norwell Police cruiser, stating, “I am going to take the cruiser.” When officers moved to detain him, Moore-Evans allegedly swung his fists at an officer, struck a cruiser door, and continued to resist arrest. He was ultimately subdued and taken into custody, though one officer was injured during the struggle and transported to a hospital. Moore-Evans was also taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Moore-Evans is facing multiple charges, including attempted carjacking, threats to commit a crime, assault and battery on a police officer, malicious damage to property, resisting arrest, and disturbing the peace. Video surveillance and witness statements corroborated the charges, according to police.
