Community Contribution
On September 8, 2025, the Hanover Select Board proudly recognized Cavan Brangan for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and for his outstanding work revitalizing the Morrill A. Phillips Sanctuary trail, leaving a lasting impact and setting an inspiring example for the entire community.
Cavan’s project was to revitalize, rejuvenate, widen, and improve the Alden Road entrance of the Morrill A. Phillips Sanctuary in Hanover, Massachusetts, as well as the first .09 mile of the trail. With thoughtful planning and strong leadership, Cavan organized a team of volunteers to clear brush, remove litter, and refresh the trail entrance. Cavan took charge and successfully led his team of volunteers throughout the execution of his project. His efforts restored visibility of the sanctuary’s sign, improved access to the trails, and created a cleaner, more welcoming space for the community to enjoy in this woodland retreat, which offers residents access to undisturbed nature and provides food, shelter, and living space to a wide variety of plants and animals.
