SCITUATE — Major infrastructure projects are in progress across Scituate, with work focused on the Oceanside Drive seawall, the Jericho Road boat ramp, and the town’s tennis and pickleball courts.
The town has started replacing the seawall along Oceanside Drive, with contractor ACK Marine currently working near the entrance to the beach. The parking lot in that area is being used as a staging site for materials, but access to the beach remains open.
The work is a full replacement project, consistent with other similar seawall upgrades in town. It differs from ongoing activity at Cedar Point, where repairs — rather than full replacement — are being made to existing coastal protection structures.
Paving and infrastructure improvements are underway at the Jericho Road boat ramp as part of a state project led by the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife. Work includes replacement of catch basins, paving, lighting installation, and general access enhancements. The ramp is expected to reopen soon once paving is completed.
Nearby, Jericho Road is under construction near the Scituate Yacht Club, with temporary closures in effect. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling in the area.
Resurfacing of all five tennis courts near the Scituate Recreation Department is in progress. Two courts closest to the recreation building are being converted into standalone pickleball courts, complete with semi-permanent weatherproof nets. The remaining three courts near the Scituate Historical Society will be repaired and repainted for tennis-only use.
The entire court area will remain closed during the project, which is expected to be completed within one to two weeks.
