The Norwell Select Board will place an article on the warrant for the reconstruction of the Town’s deteriorating boardwalk, ensuring long-term durability through improved materials and stricter oversight. The $2.7 million project has been approved and is funded by the Community Preservation Committee (CPC), which allocated funds from its available reserves. This article will be considered during the Town Meeting being held on Monday, May 5th.

The original boardwalk, built more than a decade ago, suffered from material failure and structural weaknesses. The new project, overseen by engineering firm GEI, will replace failing sections with composite decking and reinforce helical pilings to improve stability.

The funding was approved through the Community Preservation Committee (CPC), from its available reserves. Construction plans are now being finalized, with conservation approvals expected in March.

Correction Note: A previous version of this article noted that Norwell "Approved" the project. We switched our wording to "Advances" to make the next step clearer for our readers. While the town Community Preservation Committion "approved" the project, the final say on expenditures rest with voters at town meeting.
