With extreme heat settling over the region, towns across the South Shore have designated cooling centers for residents to seek relief. The South Shore is experiencing its first wave of intense heat for the summer season with temperatures expected to be close to 100℉ on Tuesday, June 23.
As temperatures climb, residents are urged to conserve electricity during peak load hours of 4-8 PM and avoid unnecessary outdoor watering during the extreme heat.
Towns across the South Shore have issued their own heat advisories with many offering cooling center information.

Center for Active Living (224 Central Street): Monday 7:30 AM - 5 PM, Tuesday 7:30 AM - 7 PM

Marshfield Council on Aging (230 Webster Street): Monday 8 AM - 4 PM; Tuesday 8 AM - 4 PM

The town is not opening any designated cooling centers, but town facilities are open and available for residents.

Scituate Public Library (85 Branch St): Monday and Tuesday, 9 AM - 9 PM
Council on Aging (333 First Parish Rd): Monday and Tuesday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Harbor Master Office (Scituate Harbor): available until midnight
