The Hingham School Committee has unanimously appointed Kathryn (Katie) Roberts as the new Superintendent of Schools, pending contract negotiations.
Roberts, a member of the Hingham Public Schools community for over 25 years, began her career as a middle school science teacher and has since served in various roles, including K-5 Science Specialist, K-12 Science Curriculum Director, and most recently, Assistant Superintendent.
School Committee Chair Nes Correnti expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, stating, "We are thrilled to appoint Katie Roberts as our next Superintendent of Schools. Over the past several months, Katie has demonstrated exceptional leadership, a collaborative spirit, and a deep commitment to the success of our students and staff. Her extensive experience in Hingham, combined with her vision for the future, makes her the right person to guide our district forward. We look forward to working with her as we continue to build on the strong foundation she has helped establish."
Roberts has already made a positive impact in the district through her collaborative leadership style, working closely with HPS leaders, teachers, students, families, community groups, and the broader Hingham community to strengthen relationships and build a sense of unity moving forward.
Reflecting on her appointment, Roberts stated, "I am deeply grateful for the support and confidence of the Hingham school committee, staff, and families and look forward to continued collaboration with the community as we work together to ensure that HPS students flourish and thrive."
Roberts is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Northeastern University.
As she steps into her new role, Roberts is expected to continue her efforts in strengthening the district's multi-tiered system of supports, implementing evidence-based programs, and fostering professional development opportunities for staff, all aimed at enhancing student outcomes and guiding the district toward long-term success.
