COHASSET — The Town of Cohasset is recognizing Detective Lieutenant Michael Lopes after he was named a 2026 Black Excellence on the Hill honoree by the Massachusetts Black & Latino Legislative Caucus.
The annual recognition celebrates leaders and trailblazers across the Commonwealth who are making a meaningful impact in their communities. Town officials said Lopes exemplifies that standard through his leadership, integrity and commitment to public safety.
“Detective Lieutenant Michael Lopes represents the very best of our profession and of the Cohasset community,” Chief William Quigley said in a statement. “This recognition by the Massachusetts Black & Latino Legislative Caucus is a direct reflection of his integrity, leadership and unwavering commitment to justice and public safety.”
Quigley added that Lopes leads by example each day, strengthening the department, building trust within the community and setting a standard of excellence for others.
Town officials congratulated Lopes on the honor and thanked him for his continued service to Cohasset and the Commonwealth.
