Hingham’s boys and girls track & field teams started the season strong through the late hours on Monday night at the Reggie. While they couldn’t hold off Plymouth North, it was still a night full of personal records.

On the boys side, distance runners set the tone with a fourth-place finish in the 1000 meters from Tommy Simpson. In the one mile, we saw a season-best seventh from Gavin Anderson and a PR from Oliver Sandifer. The team had a fifth-place PR in the two-mile by Travis O’Neil. Sprints and mid-distance saw PRs from Michael Blackwood and Jack Griffin in the 55 meters, James Slankas and Cameron Kitteridge in the 300, and Brendan O’Neil, Sam Ferrara, and Josh Greiser in the 600. The boys’ 4x200 relay kept the momentum rolling with a strong fourth-place finish and Tristan Campbell high jumped 5’8.“

The girls matched that led by Maggie Towle’s season-best fourth place in the 600 meters. Madelyn Everett and Kali Benham sprinted to new bests in the 55, and Margaret Peirce, Skyla Austin, Celia McCarthy, and Coco Lucas in the 300. Celia McCarthy, Caroline Newth, Ally Mildrum, and Abbie George ran PRs in the 600, and Gabriella Ferrara threw a PR in the shot put.

The team competes again next Monday, December 22nd at the Reggie Lewis Center at 7:30pm.
