The team turned in strong performances at the Patriot League Cross Country Championships held October 25 at Silver Lake Regional High School. With crisp fall air and plenty of team spirit, Hingham made its mark on both the varsity and JV races.
JV runners setting personal records were Will Monti, Samantha Downes, Ava Parker, Charlotte Baxter, Emma McGathey, Skyla Austin and a season’s record from Anna Corbett. Freshman Sam Downes had her best race of the season to place 3rd overall in the JV race. Ava Parker followed closely behind in 5th place.
Varsity Runners Tommy Simpson, George O’Neill, James Hamilton, Austin Smith, Eli Smock, Nolan Kust, Casely Gately, Ally Mildrum, Leonie Eigenmann, Sophia McDougall, and Abbey George all set personal records. Mary Slankas, Ellie Rogers, Caroline Newth, and Anna Galvin set season records with their times.
Senior Captain Gavin Anderson led the boy's squad , earning a spot on the Patriot League All-Star Team for his season of consistent racing. On the girl's side, sophomore Casey Gately continued her standout season, also being named a Patriot League All-Star.
The JV girls’ team claimed first place overall, showing that Hingham’s next generation of runners is already building momentum for the seasons ahead. Both varsity and JV girls also turned in strong team finishes, closing gaps, setting personal bests, and showcasing the program’s depth and determination.
“This was a great day for the team,” said Coach Jewett. “The leadership from our veterans and the drive from our younger runners really came together out there. Everyone contributed to the success.”
As the postseason approaches, the Cross Country Athletes carry plenty of momentum, and muddy shoes into the next challenge.
Congratulations to Gavin, Casey, and the entire Hingham crew! Go Harbormen!
