Hingham High School's athletes got to enjoy competing in the New Balance athletic complex for the Patriot League Championship. It was a day full of podiums and PRs for these athletes as they move towards the post-season events.
On the boys’ side, Zach Wong powered his way to win the league in the weight throw, while teammate Owen Bernard doubled up with a 2nd-place throw and and podium finished with 2nd in shot put plus 4th in high jump. An all around field day for Hingham.
On the track, Graham Carlson sprinted to an impressive 2nd place in the 55m dash and later added points in the 300m, while Travis O’Neil and Gavin Anderson battled to 2nd and 4th in the 2-mile. Another standout race from Tommy Simpson with a 4th in the 1000m. He also ran on the 7th place 4x400 relay effort from Slankas, Simpson, Oppong and Johnson. The sprint relays also chipped in, with the 4x200 squad racing to a strong 7th place finish from Johnson, Carlson, Blackwood and Griffiths.
The girls’ team brought their own fire. Adeline Lundin led the throwers with a 3rd-place finish in weight throw, followed closely by Hannah Givney in 4th. On the track, Maggie Towle earned a 4th in the 600m, while Paige Bartlett added points in the 300m. In the field, Lindsey McManus cleared her way to 5th in high jump, capping a solid championship showing.
Athletes who qualified with continue on to the D3 States on February 12th.
