Terrance Michael "Terry" Power passed away at his Cohasset home on January 2, 2026 from a heart attack.
Terry grew up in Weymouth and attended the Weymouth schools. After graduating from high school, he served in the US Army from 1968 to 1970. He was stationed on the Czech border during the Vietnam war and posted at Fort Riley Kansas when he returned to the states. After his military service, Terry took a job with Bell Atlantic, now Verizon, where he worked as a Central Office Technician for over 40 years. Terry was married to Linda O'Hearn from 1973 to 2004. They have 2 beautiful daughters, Melissa "Missy" and Caitlin. In 2005, Terry met Kathy Fox and they were together to his death.
After retirement, Terry became an avid golfer, enjoying the outdoor activity with Kathy and many friends. He also enjoyed bicycling along the Cape Cod Canal and the Shining Sea Bike Path. He and Kathy landscaped and created beautiful gardens at several homes. Terry loved the water—sailing, kayaking, walking the beach and soaking up the sun. In the winters, he did wood carving and sculpture, creating beautiful half models of fish and birds.
Terry is survived by his fiancé Kathleen Fox of Cohasset, daughters Melissa Power Yoos, her husband Mike and son Nicholas who reside in Blackstone MA and Caitlin Power Lelyo and her husband Chris of Oxford GA. Terry is predeceased by his parents Donald and Kathleen (Scott) Power of Weymouth, brothers Patrick Power of Virginia and Kevin Power of Middleboro, MA as well as numerous nephews.
Terry had great respect for nature and art, a very keen sense of humor, and abiding love for his family. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
