Linda Tamburri, of Hanover, MA, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, with her sister, Jane, by her side. She was 77.

Born in Mount Vernon, NY, and raised in Mount Vernon and Ossining, Linda was a devoted daughter to Teresa and Gene Tamburri. She studied mathematics at Boston University and Northeastern University, and went on to co-own and serve as head chef of the Red Schoolhouse in Cortland, NY, a restaurant she ran alongside her parents, which the New York Times praised for its "noteworthy virtues" (including her shrimp, a specialty her family enjoyed long after the restaurant had closed). She later built a career in accounting, working as a consultant to several businesses across New York state before retiring as a bookkeeper for a medical group in Westchester County.

Linda is survived by her sister and best friend, Jane Tamburri Spitz, and by Jane's children-Alec, Genevieve, and Will Spitz-whom Linda loved like her own. She was just as close to Will's wife, Caitlin Curran, and their sons Marvin and Elton Curran Spitz, and to Genevieve's husband, Will Runge.

Those who knew Linda will remember her quick wit, her generosity, and her wet kisses.

Services are private.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Croí Health in Norwell or Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln.
