Kathleen Margaret Egan (Kelly), 71, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully in Abington on January 12, 2026 after a long illness. Kathleen was born in Rockland to the late John and Priscilla (Madden) Kelly. She spent her early years in Dorchester where she attended St Ann's School, Neponset, Cardinal Cushing High School, Class of 1972, and Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing. Kathleen later received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Massachusetts. Later in life, she moved back to Rockland and then on to Marshfield where she retired from Boston City Hospital.

Kathleen loved helping people which made a career in nursing so perfect for her. She loved sailing and listening to the waves rolling onto the beach. She was always full of mischief, but friendly and smiling to all she met. Later in life, she became the bingo driver for her friends and was a regular at the local senior centers. She developed a love of genealogy and was most recently trying to trace the family to the late 1600's.

Kathleen and her husband Tom spent their most peaceful and happiest times on their sailboat sailing out of Plymouth Harbor and up and down the Massachusetts Coast. She was an extremely strong swimmer, developing her skills at Tenean Beach as a child.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, the late Tom Egan, to whom she was married for 25 years. Many remember their wedding reception on the boat in the middle of Boston Harbor. She is survived by her brother John and his wife Ginny of Hanover, her sister Sheila Cassidy and her late husband Alan of Rockland, her brother Charles and his wife Gail of Westfield, her sister Brenda of Weymouth and her brother Patrick and his wife Ginny of Hanson. She is survived by 9 nieces and nephews and 4 grand nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to thank the staff of Colony Center for Health and Rehabilitation for their care of Kathleen these past several years.

A Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 9:00 AM at Holy Family Church, 403 Union Street, Rockland, MA. Donations in Kathleen's name may be made to the Marshfield Council on Aging, 230 Webster Street, Marshfield, MA. 20250.
